“You can feel it when they are around…”

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word cryptid as “An animal whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the yeti.”  For the following witnesses to living cryptids, there is no dispute. In this series of National Cryptid Society’s case files, you will read what the witnesses have experienced in their own words.

Keep an open mind when reading these accounts, and also remember one’s perception and memory of an event can be influenced by the emotions felt at the time of the occurrence. The contributors to this series of articles are doing the best they can to recount what are in some cases very shocking and traumatic experiences.

NCS Case File #71: Bigfoot Force Michigan Homeowners to Leave Property

Location: Holland, Michigan

Date: Multiple sightings from 2014 – 2017

“We moved to the woods in Robinson township Mi. in 2004. In 2010 I began to notice things happening planters moved or broken. Sounds in the night. I passed the sounds off as birds not remembering birds are sleeping then.

Over the next few years I became aware of HD’s (Hairy Dudes) living around my home. There was an entire group of them multiple young or small ones and very large ones.

I became very alarmed and fearful. I decided not to tell my wife. I began to sleep in my clothes and with a 45/70 rifle.

For 3 years all of my chickens ducks geese and turkeys were killed. All of my fruit was eaten right of my front lawn trees.

Finally when I heard them on my roof I called a realtor and moved out. I witnessed what sounded like tiger growls and whoops knocks every night when they were around. You can feel it when they are around.

To many things to go into all of it.”

The witness also included videos of the surrounding area and the property, as well as photos of tree scratches and breaks and a photo of a shadowy figure standing in the trees.  However, the witness requested not to show the photos and videos so we will honor this request.

After the initial report, we contacted the witness to go over additional details.

NCS: “When you said you became aware of the “hairy dudes” I’m assuming you are meaning Sasquatch-like creatures. Is that correct? Also, how did you become aware of them, were you told or did you see them yourself?”

Witness: “Yes i mean Bigfoot type things.The hand print is 40 feet from my front door. In the summer they came around about 4 out of 7 days. They knocked at me from the woods when I took the dog out in the evening. My neighbor only said “your woods are very creepy. I pointed out broken trees or different signs but never said what it was. Not sure about talking about it.

I am having a PTSD sort of problem from solid years of fear and from time to time terror. I sat on my front steps on morning from 2 to 4 am holding a 45/70 and shaking from hearing them outside running by the front growling and speaking. I heard one say “oak cheek ahhh ahhh ahhh” so close it was crystal clear. Sounded Native American-like language and chimp [chimp vocalizations]. There was a man trying to help me but he was not much help. He told me to do things that made them angry and it smelled like a zoo around the house that morning.”

NCS: “May I ask how close were your neighbors to your home? And were you separated from them with woods on all sides of the property?”

Witness: “They never had an issue. Once they know you know there, their [the Bigfoot’s] hide and seek game gets ramped up.”

“I just read a story about a guy who experienced Hairy Dudes. So I have a friend who lived in NC who used to always tell me about them. I thought she was a little loopy but the man’s story is exactly like what she said. They would come many nights, play with toys in the yard, pound on her trailer walls. She also said that they growl and can be very scary. She also said that once they knew she knew about them, then they really messed with her. Nobody believed her but her grown son stayed over one night and he heard all of it. I was just amazed how close the details are in both these stories. Also she had neighbors who never saw or heard a thing and thought she was nuts.”
