NCS Case File #17: Black Panther Sightings Reported by Eyewitnesses in Austrailia

My grade 6 camp was in November of 1986 and we were at The Grampians in Victoria, Australia, our sighting would have been at around 11am maybe midday when we stopped to stretch our legs from the bus ride. We were up high on a road in The Grampians when the bus stopped for a quick rest so we could can stretch our legs.
I clearly remember all of us kids and the teachers being gathered around one side of the bus looking down a hill when we saw this black panther/ cat. It was just standing there, didn’t seem frightened by us and was there long enough for my Grade 6 teacher to take a photo of it & then it walked away.
I remember how excited my teacher was which made us kids excited -when we got home from camp and told our parents about our sighting they didn’t believe us which is frustrating as I know what we’ve all seen!

“I believe I’ve seen the black panther/cat. I was around age 11-12, returning home from a friend’s house. The sun had just set, and as I rounded the house to the back entrance, I saw a HUGE black cat sitting on its haunches at the end of our back yard. I locked eyes with this thing and was struck with terror.
I froze for a split second before making the decision to take a chance and bolt to the back porch. Looked back once I was in the porch and it was gone.
The woods and ravines behind my house never bothered me until I saw that thing. Always felt uneasy being in/around them after sunset from that point on. But meh, still an amazing place to grow up near as a kid.”
